Recording Dorset 8 is the latest in a series of magazines on wildlife recording
in the county. This issue includes articles on invertebrates of chalk grassland and the
Essex Skipper. There is also a review of the diaries of John Henry Salter, who lived in
Dorset between 1917 and 1923 and recorded the botany of the area. Bryan Edwards and David
Pearman have provided comments on our current knowledge of the plants Salter recorded.
With a summary of work on the marine Biodiversity Action Plans written by Lyn Baldock,
and an update on plant and invertebrate records, Recording Dorset 8 provides a
useful and entertaining account of work in the county.
